lol. no.
so this is conservative intellectualism? perfect. all these morons whinging about liberal bubbles and safe spaces. honestly, if you do consider yourself a serious person, take a minute, and look at the selections. the "classic" "western" "canon" (by definition that's elitism, no??) is far more wide and more diverse than this. you are selecting works, and interpreting them to soothe and validate your preconceived worldview. honestly, ask yourself "serious person," why such safe choices? what is actually so sad is that you're all too ignorant to even know that there is so much more and better out there. and you're missing out.Read full review »

Rereading and enjoying Tom Jones - very funny and clever writing- and mayor of casterbridge because of recent podcasts. The prince-This was a great podcast. I’ve tried to complete reading the prince many times - this instructor gave a clear perspective and historical setting for it.

Great podcast. This is perfect for those who enjoy literature. The conversation and insights are quite interesting. Your conversation about Jane Austin actually made me consider reading her work. May I suggest “Fountainhead” as a future topic?

So many things I never got around to reading, but now (in retirement) I have time for! Working now on The Gulag Archipelago, sitting on my shelves for years. Suggestion: Don Quixote (Including a brief biography of Cervantes).
