I thoroughly enjoy this podcast series and anxiously await for new episodes. Brahms is my favorite composer and, as Kevin, I consider his violin concerto to be among his finest works, if not the finest. Kevin’s narration goes beyond the typical “composer biography” in its detail on the...Read full review »

Is that actually a synthesized orchestra? That is incredible!

The content is excellent and kept me listening despite the limited speaking talent of the reader. He could stand some elocution lessons or have an actor read some of the script to relieve the monotony of one person’s reading voice.

This show uncovers wonderful details of the history of Western music and tells it in a compelling way. I have especially enjoyed the Beethoven and Brahms series but all have been in depth and intense.

I’m so glad I found this podcast! I’ve always wanted to hear such in-depth stories and interesting interviews. Now I’m waiting for Mozart!! I just wish the author would put more effort in pronouncing foreign names correctly (couldn’t figure out for example he was saying “Bettina”). I’m willing to...Read full review »

A deeply researched podcast. The GCP is an invaluable resource for serious students of music, and yet Kevin Nordstrom’s delivery makes it accessible to anyone. The combination of biographical information, musical commentary, and spectacular recordings is truly brilliant. The Brahms episodes are...Read full review »

Kevin does a great job of presenting detailed material in an accessible and engaging way. He humanizes his subjects and gives their key works enough biographical context to make them new again. And he is an excellent advocate for violists.

I love this podcast! There is so much attention to detail, and I learn so much with every episode. I especially enjoy the music put between the talking- it really gives you a full sense of the composer. I would definitely recommend a listen.

I've listened to the Beethoven podcasts so far, and I found them very informative and well done. A great mix of biography and music. Together, the Beethoven lectures are as good as most books one might read on the master. I would love if Mr. Nordstrom did a similar series on the life of...Read full review »

I love your podcast in general but this show was very frustrating because it was done via phone; muffled and very hard to understand much less appreciate.

What a great podcast. I can’t wait to listen to these shows with my aspiring pianist Goddaughter.

Pros: -This podcast is well researched with some excellent information -It provides a niche that you don't hear with other podcasts. Cons: -I think what bothers me most about this podcast is host's delivery of the text is so filled with affectations. He has this habit of emphasizing the...Read full review »

I happened upon this podcast as I was researching my music theory professor, Dr. Kevin Nordstrom, and I was so happy that I did! Since my first class with Dr. Nordstrom I knew that he was a great teacher; moreover, this has been more firmly cemented now that I have taken more courses taught by...Read full review »
