New production style is sadly distracting
I love guardian long reads and have relied on this podcast to soothe, inform, interest, distract and entertain me for years. I normally listen to it as I go to sleep. However I personally really don’t enjoy the new production approach and find the style and volume of the background music and sound effects to be distracting rather than enhancing. I appreciate trying new ideas and evolving but it’s just really not for me. For now I’ve gone back to relistening to old episodes. Perhaps some new episodes could be narration only and others the whole nine yards with the soundscapes etc? That would please all!
