Great, although flawed, podcast
Most topics are rather interesting and appealing to a worldwide audience, although some are too culture-specific. About one out of four episodes is a rerun, pardon, “from the archive”, which makes 25% of this basically redundant. Lastly, the sound quality varies a lot: the volume of the sound of some episodes is too low; many episodes have long interruptions for what I imagine are breaks for ads, making this a pain to hear sometimes. Finally, they play the same sound segment saying “The Guardian” at the end and at the beginning of each episode so if you are listening to episodes back to back you get to hear the same sound twice in a row! Yes, sound editing and production leave much to be desired!

More reviews of The Audio Long Read
Lately has become more frivolous. The British readers are sooo much better than the over-enunciating North Americans. I have to skip one of them unless the subject is particularly compelling. On balance, an excellent program and mercifully not cluttered with ads

It's really great being able to listen to/read an indepth aticle focused on a single subject, free of clickbait and discussion for discussion's sake....Read full review »

Educational thought provoking & balanced long form journalism at its best. I absolutely love this podcast- except the gratingly annoying voices of the American read articles - I have to skip those. I love the breadth & scope of this podcast.
