Fantastic follow up to The History of Rome
It honestly took me far too long to get into this show. I have been a long time listener of Mike Duncan and for some reason never gave the History of Byzantium a shot until about a year ago. It is well worth the listen. Robin Pierson has stayed true to Mike Duncan’s THoR style, but added some new elements that I’ve really enjoyed and I think even improves on THoR. He often will dive deep into certain events (I found the episode on the plague / Yersinia pestis incredibly fascinating), answer a TON of questions from listeners, and break up the narrative to focus on some particularly interesting individuals. Only criticism that I can think of is that the first ten or so episodes were tough to follow along easily (but I find this true for almost all new history podcasters). After that, Robin hits his stride. Easy 5/5 podcast.

I was very impressed with Mike Duncan's "History of Rome", "The History of Byzantium" is of equally high quality and is a seamless continuation of Rome's story. Well done!Read full review »

It was concise and clear, giving the facts and had a generally good presentation, BUT as well as he did the podcast by Lars Brownworth (also on iTunes) is better.
