“The host’s command of and passion for the subject matter are beyond reproach. His narrative is at once meticulously detailed and entertaining, which is no small feat with a topic of such massive scope. This makes it that much more unfortunate that the show often sounds like it’s coming through a speaker at the McDonald’s drive-through. I’m not sure whether he is unaware of this, doesn’t bother to check his levels before he records, or perhaps, does not have access to a high-quality microphone? (Though I have heard him say on several occasions that he has purchased a new one….) whatever the case, please Chris! Get those levels down into the green! We want to hear you better! Jiayou!”
