“I’m a serial history podcast listener. In fact, I’ve compiled a playlist of history podcasts in chronological order, beginning with the creation of the universe and moving chronologically through time around the world. If interested, you can find the playlists on Spotify, just search for “jwallmizzou”
Of course, Kit’s History of India features heavily in the playlists. His is, by far, the best history of India pod. He really does a good job. My only criticism is that he is a little story heavy. He gets sidetracked by ancient Indian stories, but they’re usually good ones and he’s a fantastic story teller so I’ll allow it.
But back to the point. Kit’s podcast begins in the time of Buddha circa 500 BCE, covers the Maurya Empire, the Kushans, Guptas, Harsha, and the early medieval tripartite struggle for Kannauj. He does it in a very unique, entertaining way.
BUT…he’s stopped. The last episode covered the 10th century, just before the Turkic invasions of Mahmud Ghazni began. I would absolutely LOVE to hear Kit’s take on the Turkic invasions, the Cholas and Chalukyas, Vijayanagara Empire, Delhi Sultanate, the coming of the Europeans, etc. Right now, this podcast could be called “The History of Ancient India Podcast.”
So Kit, if you read these, PLEASE CONTINUE! The pod is excellent. Ranked in my top tier, and I’ve listened to many, many history pods.”
