This is a fantastic Church history podcast. As a practicing Catholic with degrees in both history and theology, Terry does a great job of narrating the various significant dramas and episodes that make up early Church history. He roots his narrative in the best New Testament and Patristic sources...Read full review »

Absolutely excellent breakdown of early Church persons, events, controversies, and writers! Really helps understand how the Church came to be the Church we see today!

It is truly remarkable how much effort Terry Young has put in to this podcast. I have learned so much. When I start to listen to an episode for the first time, hearing his voice is like meeting up with an old friend. Truly great.

Very informative and well researched!! (If you’re worried about the lip smacking, it stops after episode 12!)

If you like shows like the Forgotten Wars Podcast that gives you scores of episodes about one string of wars, then youll really like a show like this one that is closing in on 100 quality episodes about the history of Christianity. Enjoy!

Great podcast. Well researched, balanced, detailed and well narrated. I have been fan of both History of Rome and Byzantium podcasts. With many historical accounts this podcast brings early Church to life showing equally well individual and institutional aspects as well as political context. ...Read full review »

Knowing little about the early Church, this podcast has been perfect place to start. Descriptions of various persecutions and the martyrs are compelling. Discussion of various heresies is fascinating. The podcast is a gentle pleasure and sure to lead to more reading and understanding.

Just discovered this podcast and I’ve been binge listening. The narrator tells the story of the early church with just the right amount of analysis; enough to help us understand it, but not so much as to spoil the pleasure of listening to a story unfold.

I listened to the History of Rome podcast by Mike Duncan a few years ago and really loved it. I always hoped I could find a podcast like that for Christian history, and this is it. 👍🏻👍🏻 I love it

a highly uncritical history of the early Christian church, largely based on Eusebius. if you are going to listen to this version of history, I highly recommend you also consult Dr. Candida Moss' "The Myth of Persecution." Just a comment that on the past few episodes, when I hit play it takes a good 30 seconds to a minute for the music to start. At that point I am thinking that there are technical issues, but the music eventually begins.

I’m a doctoral candidate in the history of this period and I am always in awe of this podcaster’s smart, nuanced, and up-to-date content. This could be a textbook for early Church history when it’s finished!

I am up to #41 hoping for the problem to be corrected. I cannot listen to this podcast unless I am in very quiet room. Very hard to listen to on the road or doing tasks. With the volume all the way up is barely audible. Otherwise great content.

I woudl love to love this show. I do wish the producer would work on his production values, which are rather poor. It doesn't cost that much to buy a decent mike. To be technical: The show should be recorded in mono, not stereo; at a higher bit rate; passed through a compressor; and...Read full review »

I recently discovered this gem. I have listened to the first seventeen episodes in the past three days. It is wonderfully edifying to learn about the origins of the church beyond what is written in Acts and to hear of the faith and strength of the first martyrs. As an aside, learning about...Read full review »

I really enjoy hearing about the history but not your “theology”. Even after admitting the theory of the “trinity” didn’t come along until after the apostles death or exile, the narrator clearly guided the listener to believe the “theology of the trinity” Clearly influenced by Greek “believers”...Read full review »

To the people that critic the quality of the production. Just don’t listen. I am a studio production engineer. He is doing a great job considering his equipment probably isn’t high dollar.
