Mindfulness and Coherence in the Brain
Thank you Peggy and Jenny for sharing your expiences in meditation. I know your listeners will be intrigued by the many benefits of mindfulness and start down the road of one of the easiest and self-rewarding habits we can have. I have mediated twice a day for over two years and my only regret is not starting earlier in my life. I joined Transcedental Meditation(TM) and discovered a new level of health and mindfulness. Most people don't think they can meditate because their mind wanders when they try to quiet their mind. A wandering mind is in fact a natural part of meditation. When meditating, don't worry about how well you are doing - You are already doing it! You can only benefit from resting the mind and it's never a waste of time. The process is very simple and yet, like everything, the more you practice - the more benefits you receive. Once you have coherence in the brain, stress begins to melt away. Not just current stress, but stress expierenced in the past. Who doesn't want that? I look forward to my meditations everyday. Now it is part of my daily routine and missing it is like skipping out on sleep. By the way, sleeping doesn't achieve mindfulness the way meditation does. Everyone listening to this podcast likely leads a busy life. We are here to improve ourselves and reducing stress through meditation is the most underrated method. One of the reasons I joined TM was for the external accountability of having an instructor. I encourage everyone to try one of the apps mentioned by Peggy and Jenny or do some reading on the subject and try meditating for a month.
