Good intentions but shallow and wrongful
I heard the podcast about the 'hummus wars' and although the creaters obviously had good intentions of showing how food can have positive impacts on people, they completely missed the issued of how Israel is subsidising and appropriating culture as a tool of cultural genocide and imperialism. The Israeli narrative is additionally disproportionately represented with, at best, naive and wrongful depicitons of the conflict, but at certain times even racists attitudes towards Palestinians and the occupation,by refering to Palestine as "Judea" and to Palestinians as dangerous Arabs. Thus, the episode is in large parts 'white-washing' the occupation, by depicting Israeli's with good intentions, while largely neglecting the fact that Paletinians are living under occupation and therefore do not have the same privileges of participating in and creating "feel good"-projects. If you want to cover such a complicated topic, please do a proper research beforehand.Read full review »
