good 'meat' for those who will know the reason they are protestant
I have made it through now only about 10 of 27 podcasts on the subject. Steve is extremely well-read, something I hope to be after some time. These podcasts got a rating of 5 because I feel he has done a great job of plucking the important information out of his research and conveying that then to the listener. Sometimes the details become overwhelming, but what I like best is when he sums up at the beginning of a podcast that which we learned on the last one. Also, as I stated in the title, I feel this is a good springboard for those of us protestants who want to better understand why and what we believe, as to how we are radically different from the Catholic teachings. After all, Lutheran Christians believe that purely by God's grace is one saved by the merits of Jesus Christ, in stark contrast to the Catholic teachings which offer their followers a sort of 'cooperation' with the Lord; This is clearly building one's faith upon his/her own merits, good works and deeds, and steals from the work that Jesus did for us sinners. I look forward to get through more of the podcasts and hopefully hear more of the 'meat' of Luther's anguish of conscience and path he took thereafter.Read full review »
