Well worth a listen
Paxman can be very variable- at his best he is intelligent, provocative and thoughtful but on occasions he does not listen closely enough to his guests and can sometimes seem ill prepared; for example, he did not seem to have read James Rebanks’s first book when he interviewed him about his second and seemed unaware that there may have been a link between being ‘surprisingly articulate for a sheep farmer’ and having a First from Oxford in English! However, this is to quibble; he is so often worth a listen and his selection of his guests has often been fascinating.
