The present situation with the Coronavirus is affecting our lives significantly, and is likely impacting your marriage as well. Like any crisis, the Coronavirus is likely to cause increased stress levels for you and your spouse, as you experience the loss of ordinary activities and regular routines. Stress will affect you and your spouse differently, so it’s important to recognize how it is affecting your spouse, and to offer them your support. In the midst of the current crisis, it is helpful to realize that the way you deal with stress probably reflects the way you learned to deal with it in your family of origin. It is worth discussing how stress was handled in the family you grew up in, as well as how your attachment style is impacting how you are handling the situation.
