Interesting Perspectives
I wasn’t raised in a Christian home but am a Jesus follower. I think I’ve known people along the way with stories like this who’s parents were well intentioned and afraid of the “world”. It’s sad that Christianity is often taught Jesus + a laundry list of rules… I’m grateful I was not exposed to these cultish practices because it sounds pretty awful. The only reason I’m not giving this a 5 is because this seems especially focused on the one Gothard movement (and there are so many to explore) and seems like most of these testimonies represent white experiences (and there are many other cultures who are preyed on by these teachings). It’s important to hear from many different voices bc I think race and culture play a big part in how people are pulled in. Granted, this Gothard movement seems to be very white nationalistic so perhaps that’s why, but I’d like to hear from others perspectives as these stories start to sound the same after a while.

I love this podcast and look forward to new episodes. It is not a gossip podcast at all. The guests tell their stories in an intriguing way.

This was so interesting. I grew up watching the Duggar family and remember being fascinated with their lives. Thanks for digger deeper and exposing the darker side to this “cult” religion.
