Not Your Standard Interview Show
I listen to a lot of podcasts and because of that find a lot of guest overlap. Many times, if I hear a guest on one show I’ll skip them on another - just to avoid hearing the same thing. I’m not going to do that with Brian Koppelman. Why? Because this guy really digs in and gets you something different - even about people you think you already know. I’m not sure if it’s because he does great research (as a filmmaker that’s certainly possible) or if it’s that he’s interviewing his buddies (though he didn’t know Baron Davis and that held to the same standard) but something is working. I’m also impressed that he’ll push his subjects into places they’d (at least at first) rather not go. You see that in the Colson Whitehead episode and it makes all the difference.

Even when I don't know anything about the guest beforehand, I always end up being fascinated by...Read full review »
