A story with lots of potential but superficially related with details of the defendant’s attire, hair, facial expressions hands etc. Accounts of waiting outside premises for hours to snap a passing shot “in the public interest” are definitely not in mine, and undermine the already fragile...Read full review »

I am so glad it wasn’t just me for once being so bothered by the voice. The host Brook has a lovely normal voice when she forgets to vocal fry. Which unfortunately isn’t often enough. It wasn’t just her voice either. The content was premature. They can’t share enough that’s interesting. Or...Read full review »

She talks about herself half the time. Really hard to listen to as their is really no content or info. Got to epp 4 & you were still working out who the people were that died. How are they in relation. How did they no it was the mushrooms to began with. I tapped out at epp 4. Probably the...Read full review »

feels like they called dibs on the story before they had a story. i know it's hard out there for a journalist these days but there's an excruciating amount of filler in this podcast, including a full 6 minutes of people crying at a baptist sermon?!? like, if you aren't allowed to...Read full review »

Fry
There are 2 reasons why people exhibit a pronounced vocal fry 1 Because they have an ailment or a condition. 2 They and their cohort think it sounds fashionably good. Whichever the reason I cannot tolerate it, it spoils whatever information is on offer. I won’t be listening any longer. I’m sure...Read full review »

This journalist should stick to the written word, her voice is very unappealing!!

I find this podcast very interesting, shows the ins and outs of reporting and how it works, also the case itself is extremely intriguing and i look forward to being able to get the updates as the case progresses.
Robscoe McKane via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 05/24/24
The reporter has a disinterested way of speaking like we woke her up and she is still lying down in bed... it would be great if she cleared her throat of vocal fry.
Sally Barn via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 05/24/24
The fake deep voice and vocal fry make it unlistenable. Not sure how this podcast manages to make such an interesting subject so incredibly boring, but it manages it. Very amateurish. Filled with little information about the case. What could be interesting isn’t covered. Instead expect an in...Read full review »

The vocal fry is too strong, I can’t listen. Why can’t some young women talk in a normal voice?

Ok
Good coverage of an important story, But why the reporter feels it necessery to comment on what Erin was wearing, three times! Is beyond me!

I thought this series would offer some insight but it doesn’t. It is extremely boring - I gave up after 3 episodes.

I have been wondering why this podcast has such a low score across multiple platforms because the podcast is actually decent. The comments here are full of people complaining about the presenter’s normal Australian woman voice. Vocal fry is normal and not something you need speech therapy for....Read full review »

Very poor information. Too much about how well the media / the narrator have behaved or done… shouldn’t be about them. So disappointing for such a unique story!

This is presented as though it’s a primary school project. Very immature with a lot of over explaining. Presenter’s voice is not suited to podcasting, childish and grating. There are some very interesting issues in what has happened, not discussed here. Overall compelling to listen to because...Read full review »

This entire podcast series could be told in 15 mins - not a painful seven eps! It drills down to such detail that you’re waiting for some narrative on how to cook a beef Wellington or how Erin ties her scrunchie each morning.
Meesh Simmo via Apple Podcasts · New Zealand · 05/14/24
This issue grabs your attention, but this telling of it is boring and annoying. The badly told details in an annoying voice is only beaten by the presentation of “the press” as a group of annoying, intrusive hyenas.
Psepsych via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 05/14/24
I don’t generally write reviews, but this is just drivel. It is completely stretched out with minimal facts and lots of useless information that plays no part in the overall story. It feels opportunistic.
livntosca via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 05/14/24
I was eager to listen to this podcast, hoping it would reveal the true story behind the lunch tragedy that claimed three lives. However, so far, it has predominantly focused on journalist and judicial processes rather than the incident itself.

I have listened to all these episodes…I was amazed to hear that the alleged perpetrator has allegedly tried to kill her ex husband on a number of different occasions resulting in 3 charges of attempted murder. No real story - journalists scrambling for something to report on. Would’ve been a lot more interesting if made years later rather than whilst proceedings taking place.

This was all about journalism and how the court proceedings run, all I found out was that this woman is accused of killing her in-laws with mushrooms , I don’t know why she did it or anything about her or her victims? There’s NO story at all??? Shame as I thought this would be so interesting.

Monumentally sanctimonious journos - though it's a stretch to call them journos. There's literally no substance to this podcast and I've given it right up to Episode 4. There’s a great deal of repetition almost as if to fill time and get a longer episode out of less and less content. This feeling is compounded when we have to hear boring details about the creator driving/meeting various other people before and after court. It is not interesting hearing about...Read full review »

This podcast is poorly executed. I think the main issue with this podcast is the misjudgment of what the interest in this case is. Given there is zero new information, this is a blow by blow day in the life of the journalists. It’s not that interesting. This would have been better done after...Read full review »

Am so disappointed I wasted money on listening to this series. Terrible journalism, boring, awful narrating and information that could have been told in a 3 minute news segment. 0 stars.

I find it incredible, that supposedly having reported in the area for over 2 years, you cannot pronounce the name of the town correctly. It’s disrespectful to the community and feels disingenuous.

All the interesting or relevant bits in this podcast could have been condensed into 1 episode or less. It’s drawn out and repetitive and reveals nothing. The whole series could be condensed to one episode. Not much information being conveyed. Also feels a bit icky calling it a murder mystery like it’s a trashy tv series. These people lost their lives, this should not be trivialised.
