I made it to the end of the fourth episode and I wish I never started. I have come to read the reviews thinking is it just me but clearly not. No issue getting past the vocals for a good story (which this is not) but I am bothered by the attitude here - the clap on the back about being...Read full review »

So much time, so little journalism.

Was looking forward to learning more about this story but came to the wrong place - very slow and irrelevant interviews and material. Meh

Monumentally sanctimonious journos - though it's a stretch to call them journos. There's literally no substance to this podcast and I've given it right up to Episode 4. Although I confess, I did skip through some of the more irrelevant ramblings. The one star is for the highlight -...Read full review »

There’s a great deal of repetition almost as if to fill time and get a longer episode out of less and less content. This feeling is compounded when we have to hear boring details about the creator driving/meeting various other people before and after court. It is not interesting hearing about...Read full review »

I really tried, but the presenters vocal fry makes it very hard listening. The production is very good surrounding the voice over.

This podcast is poorly executed. I think the main issue with this podcast is the misjudgment of what the interest in this case is. Given there is zero new information, this is a blow by blow day in the life of the journalists. It’s not that interesting. This would have been better done after...Read full review »

Am so disappointed I wasted money on listening to this series. Terrible journalism, boring, awful narrating and information that could have been told in a 3 minute news segment. 0 stars.

I find it incredible, that supposedly having reported in the area for over 2 years, you cannot pronounce the name of the town correctly. It’s disrespectful to the community and feels disingenuous.

Only 10 mins in had to abandon this podcast - vocal fry of narrator is like fingernails on a blackboard eeek

Really wanted this to be good, even went back and gave it another chance - just boring and irrelevant. Please stop suggesting and promoting so heavily.

For heavens sake. I will delete my Apple News subscription and podcast if you continue showing this advertisement. It’s sickening everytime I open the news having to see this woman distraught face - which is making me physically sick! This is repugnant and scrolling through news content the add...Read full review »

All the interesting or relevant bits in this podcast could have been condensed into 1 episode or less. It’s drawn out and repetitive and reveals nothing. Narrator’s inability to pronounce Australia (as oshtralia which sadly isn’t uncommon these days ) and the rising inflection at the end of...Read full review »

Excruciatingly dull. Found myself fast forwarding through most of it. The hosts speak sooooo painfully slowly. As for content, it’s mostly the hosts talking about the logistics of the assignment itself. There’s precious little information or insight shared about the actual events or the people...Read full review »

Why start a podcast when it may take 2 years for the case to be settled? Sigh…

Disjointed and full of interviews with irrelevant people. The interview with a random mushroom seller was eye rolling bad and yet they included it. It seems like they are stuck on content and including anything vaguely relevant, inc the narrators work resume! Narrator has an annoying voice too....Read full review »

The whole series could be condensed to one episode. Not much information being conveyed. Also feels a bit icky calling it a murder mystery like it’s a trashy tv series. These people lost their lives, this should not be trivialised.

Every episode after the first has been lacklustre and empty of any interesting updates or insightful analysis. As a former broadcast journalist, I regard this as a prime example of why podcasts should, in large, be left to those who know how to produce and craft an audio narrative. This is just...Read full review »

Surprise, surprise - what a pointless podcast, I should have known by the highly creative title - seriously that’s the best the Herald Sun could come up with? Also, could the reporters make the story more about themselves?? Finally, just a tip, if you’re going to make a podcast about a country...Read full review »

No sense of storytelling or jeopardy, just the journalist constantly reminding us that she is a journalist and then playing sermons in real time. Listen to BBC sounds on how to construct a podcast and engage an audience

Listening to this after the teachers pet podcast and it feels like it’s missing the same heart, not to mention substance. This podcast is terrible. I don’t want to listen to drivel about journalism laws - anyone with half a brain knows you can’t tell us everything. All the first episode made me think is what scum journalists are peering traumatised people.

My goodness! The reviewers here are a nasty bunch. Go outside and touch some grass. This podcast tells you all it can with an upcoming trial. Otherwise it would be breaking the law.

Ok
Quite enjoyed it but not a lot of things we don’t already know. And her pronunciation of ‘literature’. Someone should’ve picked that up.

Lacks substance. Poor example of journalism, is opportunistic, crass & potentially damaging to a case not yet tried. Sparks resonance with how journalists covered the Lindy Chamberlain case. Very irritating “reporters” couldn’t take the voices! Dragged out the story with no real storyline to it. Feels rushed and like reporters are desperately trying to produce content!

Interesting story but left with loads of questions, did she eat any herself? Why do police think it was intentional rather than just bad mushrooms? Also hate to say this but journalist’s voice is very hard to listen to - sorry 😬

A desperate reach with little substance. This podcast is premature and with useless information throughout. Where the journalists were, what they did, why they do it blah blah blah. I still don’t know what on earth is going on with this story. there’s nothing here. Filled with extraneous nonsense like articles in a local paper, not even related to the crime. I was bored to tears.
Hellbells123 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 04/24/24

This podcast is very average. There is so much filler and it really provides no additional information which is unsurprising because the matter is before the courts. The worst part was the upward inflection in the narrator’s voice. It was very distracting , I had to stop listening.
Gelibrand via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 04/23/24
Since this series was several episodes I expected some twists and turns to enter the story. There were no twists and turns. I have found this to be really interesting, especially now that court proceedings have started. A lot of harsh comments re this podcast, but this is better than the ABC version, which just sounds like 2 guys having a chat imho.

They’ve jumped the gun in releasing this. As it’s not through the courts yet, majority of detail and compelling information can’t be discussed.
