Just to repeat what others have said. Love the content. Learning many things in this series. Interesting and engaging. Unfortunately, the sound volume is poor and even on full volume on my headphones, I still hear the rest of the train carriage louder than the excellent speaker (on their radio...Read full review »

I am amazed this podcast is not more popular. There is a superb variety of brilliant and interesting lectures on a diverse range of topics. It has been a delight to find and I am having a wonderful time picking through the past episodes.

My podcast on the Land Tax just came to an abrupt end after about 4 minutes! It was very good until then, though! A subject index would be very helpful for newcomers, and especially as the list grows ever longer. PS All 'nicknames ' I put in were'taken', however outlandish! Can this be right?

I can only presume that the abysmal quality of the recording is some form of Government censorship so that the average person is not able to access these podcasts for any more than a few minutes. If Nixon had asked the National Archives sound recordist to record his conversations he might have...Read full review »

Please please please fix the audio on these podcasts. I can put up with the speaker walking away from the microphone from time to time, but the levels are so low that the podcast is silent when it comes up in my car play list. The content is fantastic, just almost completely inaudible.

My favorite episode. I'll be honest history does put me to sleep, but I learn 10 to 15 minutes of history before I go. The next night I'll just forward about 10 mins to catch up until I finish. Thanks for doing all that you do.

The NA seems to do everything superlatively well as I can attest from my visits to Kew. These podcasts tick all the boxes for me; well chosen and wide ranging topics, so something for everybody. Talks given by people who are truly experts in their field. Its free!

The lectures are on a wide variety of subjects. I've not listened to any with poor sound quality. The talk on Broadmoor was excellent.

This are really smashing! And I'm surprised at how interesting these talks are! I'm an American with mainly British & American Indian Roots. Can't get much help for the latter in the British National Archives but listening is a rich experience in understanding my Brit Ancestors. These talks...Read full review »

The above reviewers may be right about some of the episodes, but I haven't yet listened to any with poor quality sound. Don't be put off, therefore, as you'd be missing a great series of lectures on an amazing variety of topics.

The sound quality is variable, and should be improved. The quality and range of the lectures however is very impressive. Those concerning Henry III and the Fine Rolls, King John and secrecy and research stand out.

Content: Excellent. 5*. Range of subjects: Similarly excellent. Audio quality: Not just poor but hopeless. With the feedback and muffled sound these recordings are actually physically painful to listen to. If this is supported by taxpayers money then all involved should be ashamed of...Read full review »

I love the content of this podcast as well as other podcasts I have listened. However, the archives needs to learn to correctly mic its guest speakers. I tend to listen to the podcast with headphones, so the constant pops and distortions from poor mic-ing is MADDENING! Again content is...Read full review »

This podcast will be of particular interest to people researching ancestors who emigrated from Britain. Many of the podcasts present very detailed information on where genealogical information might be located including some very difficult records such as births, marriages, and deaths at sea. In...Read full review »
