Excellent podcasters with great chemistry and a great show premise
When looking for a podcast to listen to, it's not enough to find one about a subject you're interested in. Good podcasting requires people who engage the listener, and if there's more than one regular, they have to have a chemistry that makes you wish you could join into the discussion. That's exactly what you get with The Next Picture Show. How do I know after just two episodes? I know because Scott Tobias, Keith Phipps, Tasha Robinson, and Rachel Handler have done this before (on The Dissolve), and it's wonderful to have them back. So far, the pacing of the show has been excellent, and the premise itself (reviewing a new movie in light of an older one) is something I've long wished someone would do more with. The only problem with this podcast is that there aren't enough back-episodes; normally when I discover a podcast I immediately love I can binge-listen earlier stuff to satisfy the initial craving. Luckily, it looks "The Next Picture Show" will offer new episodes on a pretty frequent (bi-weekly?) basis.Read full review »

Have been following their work as writers and podcasters since most of them were still at The AV Club, through the lifespan of The Dissolve, and now onto their new tenures at various publications. So...Read full review »

As the show says, movies are the most interesting when out in context, and no show does it better. Even when I don't agree with their opinions(Blade Runner is as interesting as watching beach goers wipe sand from their feet, pumpkin pie and lettuce on burritos are mandatory) they make a...Read full review »
