Carver reading blemishes an otherwise interesting podcast
As a long-time Paris Review fan, I was thrilled at the release of a "pod-cast" drawing from their estimable archives. However, Mr. Stein's recitation of 'Why Don't You Dance?,' Raymond Carver's masterful short story, shows Stein going out of his way to besmirch said archives. His silly reading (why the histrionic tone in final paragraph?) and reprehensible audio flourishes (ice clinking in glass; bizarrely earnest piano) deeply violate the original text. I would boycott further episodes, but I will continue to listen in hopes of an apology. Best wishes.Read full review »

Short stories come alive through incredible reading and sound production. The voices, pacing, and subtle sound effects are magical. I have heard every episode so far, and I can't get enough.
