Description
Hello and welcome to Episode 215 of the People Powered Business Podcast! Today we are unpacking yet more of the ongoing legislative changes that are imminently being rolled out and amendments to the Fair Work Act that are being made. Today we are talking about the difference between employees and contractors – and what you need to know about the changes. This is a topic that has been an ongoing debate, and lots of employers have been hiding behind non-existent loopholes, or assuming they can make their own rules when it comes to this issue. The truth is that isn’t going to fly anymore, and now is the time to revisit any contractor arrangements you have and make changes. In this episode we start by looking at the definition of an employment relationship, and particularly what defines a relationship between and employer and employee versus that of a client and supplier or contractor. We discuss when this takes effect, what you need to do, and how to decide what the relationship actually is that you have in place.
