Great Listen
If you have enjoyed Tolkien’s books this podcast will enrich your pleasure greatly. The hosts focus on the etymology as much as the plot of the books. The tone is down to earth, no pomposity, with lots of pop culture and music references to make the experience gentle and fun. Shawn and Alan’s chemistry was amazing and when Shawn needed to drop back from regularly co-hosting it felt like the magic might be broken, but far from it. The new hosts offer new perspectives, expertise as well as the gentle and cheeky humour the show thrives on. The show is going from strength to strength and is one of those things in my life which takes my busy brain on a little holiday with each episode.

I'm new to the Silmarillion and this podcast is really helping. Alan and Shawn are great together and although it is a deep dive into the Professors work they get a good bit of humour into the podcast as well.Read full review »

Fantastic podcast!! Great for readers of Tolkien who are just starting out, or have been at it for quite a while. They make it fun and quite informative without seeming preachy as can sometimes happen. Great job guys.
