It is a long 💭 deliberated 🤔 review... (revised)
(My revised review/add new thoughts & questions) It's Howie again! I hope everything at AJ&Smart is going well. I recently finished updating my website and made the first move of getting into the product design industry. :) And thanks for your podcast Jake&Jonathan. They are super fun and great companions for young professions who are new to this industry. Currently, I am focused on finding an Internship/Junior product/UX designer opportunities while learning continuously. I believe in "learning by doing". Two main questions I thought you would be the right people to be asked (I understand you are very busy and I will keep it short): My interest is products for education/architecture. Considering my background, it seems hard for me to even find a practice opportunity. Considering gain experience asap is vital for now, should I look at any possible practice opportunity instead of focusing on my interest? I have applied to many firms including large corporations/design agencies. (mostly internships) I find it is hard to get HR's attention to my website. (I checked my website stats constantly) I assumed they ignored me instantly after browsing my resume (background as an architectural designer/without HCI related degrees) Is there any advice you could think of to solve this issue? (My previous review for JJ) Hi Jake and Jonathan, I have been listening to your podcast for a while, mostly when walking or showering. I very much like it so far. Mainly because it always brings me surprise. And the 'song' is so catchy. Sometimes, it starts to linger all of sudden as a remainder of the podcast. Guess its ultimate function is showing up. Also, I have a general question: do you define you as an introvert or extrovert? how does it relate to your career development? I asked this question because of Cain's book Quiet. She mentioned that "loneliness increases creativity and innovation". We all know, as a UX/Product designer, both creativity and an excellent communication skill set are required. For me, there seems to be a conflict here. I oftentimes find it is hard to allocate my time to "being alone" or "group-think" in this pro-extroverted industry. Thanks, HaoRead full review »

I’ve enjoyed greatly listening Jake and Jonathan random discussions around product design and life in general. The only reason why I didn’t give five stars is that I didn’t feel all episodes (like career tips and google and iOS notifications) relevant for me. But I have listened even...Read full review »
