Even if you don’t want to, do it
This is the good part of this—Karen and Kel tell you what you don’t want to hear, but not what your supervisor will tell you. As a grad student who just couldn’t get the untold rules of the academic market, the professor is in spelled them out for me, even those I didn’t know I needed to know. As an ex grad student who still has a lot to learn, now for me AND for my students, i find so important to break with the custom of the implicit academia. But I do not have the luxury of browsing blogs, so I am glad I can listen to you!

I gained so much insight of the academic job market from Karen and Kel. They are honest, direct, and open. I would be spending more time to learn from mistakes without them. I recommend this podcast to anyone trying to get into academia.
