“Loving the podcast! I just wanted to let you know I have already implemented your advice from Episode 3. Someone reached out to ask if I was interested in putting together a teaching presentation for a conference in just a few weeks.
I have a good personal and professional relationship with this person, and I know they are in a bit of a bind, but I did not have the time. So instead of getting caught up in my emotions, I thought back to what I heard you both say as I was driving to and from campus yesterday, replied with a thank you and followed your advice to say that, "I will check my calendar and get back to you tomorrow."
I said no to the presentation, and then (using the same technique) said no to putting together a workshop at my institution in the fall with a colleague who is pleasant but unreliable and honestly, not good to work with.
A few days later, a friend at a different institution reached out to see if I wanted to co-author a short paper with a quick deadline on a topic of great interest to me. Because I said no to those other things, I was available to say yes to an interesting project I really want to work on that has a quick turnaround.
Really, this is life changing advice for academics. Y'all are wonderful!”Read full review »

They repeat themselves a lot across episodes,...”Read full review »

I am trying to get my academic career started, and I can say that TPII has been fundamental in helping me writing the applications, but also in understanding academic culture and practices much better. My application...”Read full review »
