Best financial podcast
"Rational Reminder" has bridged a lot of gaps in my personal finances knowledge and helped me keep my head from spinning every time I had to make a long term savings decision. Cameron and Ben have an amazing synergy. Ben is young and energetic, deeply passionate and an outstanding communicator. You can tell that he loves what he does and he does an impressive job at compiling and sorting research and present it in a clear fashion. His statements are always data backed, he is open about what is his opinion and what is a well researched fact and he make topics like statistical factor analysis sound appealing and fun. Cameron is great at remind us that emotions are a normal part of personal finance (it's easy to forget that finance is not all about data when someone as engaging Ben explains it) and is great at pulling back when the discussion gets too technical for listeners and clarify in layman terms what everything means. He also has decades on the field and every anecdote he tells about his work experiences is worth gold. No, better, it's worth thousands of dollars in low fee index based etfs! However, the strongest point about the podcast is that they are not affraid of other people's opinions. - They are skeptical about socially concious investment, and yet, they brought and interviewed an expert on the field. - They are skeptical about active management, and yet, they brought and interviewed an expert on the field. - They are skeptical about hedge funds, and yet, they brought and interviewed an expert on the field. - They are skeptical about crypto and yet, they brought and interviewed an expert on the field. - They are skeptical about roboadvisors, and yet, they brought and interviewed an expert on the field. In every case, they brought real expert of world recognition, conducted a very respectful interview, kept an open mind and learnt as much as possible from people with different views from them. In cases like the FIRE movement, they were even willing to adjust some of their original believes. The discussion between Tim Nash and Ben was incredible, for example. That attitude is really refreshing and, sadly, hard to find. In my field, it's often said that you should have "strong ideas, weakly held" (i.e. be confident in what you believe and be willing to adjust your point of views when shown convincing evidence) and they are a living example of that principle. Hat off, gentlemen. Hat off.Read full review »

You can take advice from Ben Felix and Cameron Passmore to the bank, but you would be better off in a portfolio managed by them. They are two of the most competent, honest and trustworthy advisors I know. Their podcast is a welcome resource for investors seeking sound, academically based advice.
