Poor Idea and Execution
I'm a pretty big fan of many of The Ringer shows (BS Podcast, The Watch, House of Carbs). I waited to hear as many episodes as I could before giving any feedback - especially harsh critical feedback. But this is a particularly unfocused poor effort. For one, the "awards of the week" is a forced and unnecessary mechanism to push the show along. In an effort to have a show that is timely and airs as close to the airing of the show as possible, it always feels like random people were called into a room and just blurt out initial impressions. The Ringer is typically smarter than this. I hate to compare, but when Andy Greenwald and Chris Ryan discuss shows, even if only for 10-20 mins, it seems significantly more fully thought out. Even when I don't agree with their takes, I always get a fresh and compelling argument or take. Many shows are easy to just hold a recap podcast for: Power, Empire, The Walking Deaf. Shows without much depth outside of just talking about what happened and what's next to happen. Atlanta is not this kind of show. It requires a more in depth approach. If there's another season of Atlanta, just let Greenwald and Ryan talk about it a bit more on The Watch. This is way below the standards that The Ringer has set.Read full review »

Yes, it is nerdy and very inside stuff, but as someone who has enjoyed each and every episode of all five seasons, I find it fascinating and educational on many levels. I really hope that the show runners don’t get discouraged...Read full review »

Seems like they would at least make a comment of why there is no more Billions Recappables but all we get is silence. Dissapointing. Like it never existed the way the Ringer is acting.
