This podcast is a real missed opportunity. The momentum and hype it had in the beginning could have been converted into long-form, thoughtful discussions about how to reform our politics. Taking a different theme or policy area each week and giving the Labour and Conservative approach to solving...Read full review »

Wide range of subjects Well discussed & disagreeing agreeable most of the time, though Alistair would benefit from being less competitive / childish which I find rather irksome

Lots of great discussion here by two sharp minds who have spent many years at the centre of British politics. I’m a fan. The show, however, is let down by one thing only, Alastair’s utter inability to be anything other than tribal. Rory speaks with nuance and is quite happy to see both sides...Read full review »

Tomorrow I’ll be 77, however don’t stop reading because I’m an old guy. I’ve always been interested in and followed politics. I swing towards the left but was not unduly concerned, prior Mr Johnson, if the Tories were in power and the grown ups were in charge. Since Brexit and Johnson the...Read full review »

Always balanced and informative this podcast has hugely helped improve my knowledge on the inner workings of politics. Still don’t want to get involved though!

It is amazing how you two lefties manage to let your listeners know pretty much in every podcast (no matter what the subject matter) how despicable you think Johnson and Truss are. We have got the message and frankly this trope is now incredibly tedious and boring.

This podcast is absolute rubbish
Chris caird via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 04/12/24
The dynamic of this podcast is flawed. I believe it was originally designed to be - right vs left, con vs lab, blue vs red (hence the artwork) but it has descended into being two left wing political commentators agreeing with eachother about everything. On the rare occasion Rory does disagree...Read full review »

Thoroughly enjoy the podcast and look forward to their takes each week! HOWEVER, these ads are getting out of hand - three back to back ads continuously is pretty frustrating and off-putting (especially when i’m not near my phone to skip forward). You’re getting a 4-star review to balance Rory’s sexism (3-stars) with Alastair’s feminism (5-stars). The latest was Rory’s reaction to Rachel Reeves’s Mais lecture. Why does Rishi Sunak’s simplistic party conference speech with its decidedly small-bore goals get Rory’s respect while RR’s...Read full review »

Good show, I enjoy the format and listening to these two discuss politics. Alastair however is so unbelievably bias, that he can’t see anything but Labour good, Tori bad. It doesnt feel like a balanced view of politics. Rory feels more balanced.

I usually enjoy the podcast but Rory was offensively condescending about the Shadow Chancellor’s speech today. He even concluded with the remarks that we shall wait to see what the ’grown up’ economists say. It is so easy to snipe from the sidelines when he will never be called upon to rectify...Read full review »

I listened to 6 podcasts to give the show a fair go but found both presenters to be unwilling to move beyond their own privileged, pretentious and frankly sneering positions. It is no wonder politics within the UK is so unpleasant with commentary such as this.

It is sad that politics in parliament has become more important than looking after our country. Rory and Alistair entertainingly share a belief that it should the other way round.

Listening to Alistair talk about Biden is nauseating. Why can’t politicians just tell the truth is it literally too much to ask? No wonder the world is going to pot with people like him “leading” the country past and present.

As an American, I enjoy this podcast due to my interest in international politics, as well as for the balance it provides for my own political viewpoints. However, @Rory, don’t downplay the SOTU and Joe Biden’s lack of mistakes. Specifically, his gaffe of calling a young, aspiring American...Read full review »

Loved the pod but as we get closer to a general election, Alister cannot resist pushing his party and demonising the Tories. There these two go again complaining about a lack of democracy - coming from them both who have done more to subvert democracy recently than anyone else, esp Campbell, by doing everything they could to get the Brexit vote reversed. This used to be quite even handed but it lately seems like Campbell is basically saying that the Tories are the root of all evil, without any achievements at all, and Stewart is a touch too weak to push back. Mean one-sided over-simplified biased coverage of George Galloway. Alistair did have a hand in misselling the Iraq War to the British public, and Galloway has a long history of criticising that. I find this podcast increasingly hard listening. Alastair is increasingly tribal and has an inability to see a balanced point of view. From my perspective, I want balanced arguments from two people who used to be in government. Unfortunately this is lacking and more

I’ve been a subscriber to the podcast for getting on for a couple of years. In the past I’ve found it quite informative and entertaining but I’m increasingly finding it less so. I agree that the podcast is well presented and informative but I think both presenters are underegging their privilege and connections.
