“I guess the positive thing to say is at least they are conservative. But, wow, it's like listening to fingernails on a chalkboard. These two prove that 1+1<1. It takes two guys to be less than half as good as Rush.
Sure, I have to admit no one could follow Rush. That's a thankless task. Mark Steyn would get close, but these two are far, far behind.
Clay talks way too much. He just goes on and on and on - Kinda like Hannity but worse. He interrupts Buck and guests. Sure, Rush could go three hours without taking a call, but he was compelling, funny, and had tremendous insights. Clay is so bad he could audition for a role as a teacher in a Ferris Bueller remake - anyone? anyone? anyone?
Buck? He talks so little it's hard to know where to begin. He's more like a host, taking 10 seconds to ask a question then giving Clay all the time until the commercial break to ramble on. Incessently. In the few instances when Buck says something insightful he's interrupted by Clay and the thread is lost.
These schlubs are in two different studios in two different cities, so there's no way they can play off each other. They should be in the same room - it might give a chance for Buck to get a word in edgewise and, perhaps (but probably not) help Clay back off from so many painful interruptions.
Of course, all they want are five-star reviews. Any criticism will be ignored. Those who think of them as one- or two-star hosts just can't see their greatness, I'm sure.
Basically Clay should jock off and stick to his sports lane. Buck should stay where he was as an interviewer and moderator. And Mark Steyn should have this show.
