“All too often my experience with Anglo-Catholicism has been that it doesn't know how to communicate with the "outside world," i.e., broader Christianity. The few times I've seen such communication, it has not been very compelling, even though I agree with many of the distinctives of the Anglo-Catholic tradition, and I suspect it would hit the ears of most Protestants and Evangelicals like a foreign language.
The Sacramentalists is an excellent attempt to put the distinctives of the Anglo-Catholic tradiiton into terms and language that most Christians should be able to understand. It's an uphill battle, as many Christians - even in the ACNA, and especially in the southest USA - require an apology or justification for high church/catholic worship practices or beliefs. Fr. Myles and Fr. Wesley do an excellent job of making the topics accessible and taking a firm stance without bashing other traditions.
This is a must-listen for those who want an introduction to historic Christianity as expressed in the Anglican church, for those who are seeking resources to grow in their faith and practice it, and I hope will start many healthy conversations in Christian homes and church communities of any tradition.
