S5 Forgotten War
I heard this episode via Front Burner and provided great information; even details I had never heard before (thank you Ms. Kim!). One detail made in jest I felt lacked important context. Lieutenant General Charles “Tick” Bonesteel (pronounced ‘Bonn-uh-stel’) was not at all the backwoods hick he was made out to be. In fact “Tick” was a graduate of West Point and a Rhodes Scholar of Oxford University. He was highly decorated Soldier. The important context I’d like to share is, he was decorated more by other countries than by his own. Domestically, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal *twice*. Internationally, L.Gen Bonesteel was awarded the Legion of Merit (again *twice*) by Italy, awarded the Croix de Guerre by France, and made an Honorary Officer of the British Empire. Granted, there was a warning of the use of ‘…strong language and content, because history does sometimes…’ However, this strong language wasn’t about historical facts, it was cheap humour based on stereotyping.

I had really high hopes for finding some good information in this podcast. Was really disappointed. Unprofessional, totally biased, negative, totally immature. After I found some errors, I don’t trust any of the information they present to be true. Try “Unreserved” by Rosanna Deerchild instead.

This is the best Canadian podcast of 2019. Using historical facts to inform modern discourse, I never fail to learn something!
