Started good....
The first book started with an interesting premise, and a variety of characters, some of whom were interesting. The quality declined however and book two has abandoned plot and character development in favor of polemic. I wish that I could believe that the two dimensional characterizations of authority figures, capitalists, etc. were in the service of a plot point. I'd happily read a treatment of two dimensional characters in a four color world. But as it stands, although I'm intrigued by the plot and the mysteries that remain, I can't bring myself to care about the characters anymore. Having made that criticism, let me hasten to praise several features. The voice work is superb; Ms. Giguere breathes life into each character. Her voice is pleasant, clear and consistent. Her bio indicates that voice acting is not her primary profession, which makes her accomplishments more impressive. The writing is solid - both authors have spent the time & effort to polish their talent and care about presenting a finished product. As I understand it, this is a labor of love for them, not for profit, and I admire their professionalism in a hobby project.Read full review »
