It’s a slow start, but don’t let that fool you.
I’ll be honest, when I started this series I was playing it at 2x speed while reading the transcript along because I was having a hard time connecting with it. It takes its time establishing the world and characters and my early first impressions had me convinced that I had the direction and characters pinned, but I pressed on because I heard it gets better. Then I hit episode 8 and things started to not be as they seemed. I started the episode over and moved the speed to 1x. I haven’t sped back up again since. On one hand, the series found its legs and started to get a little more refined, and on the other I had to admit that the writing is unapologetic for its characters and challenged my assumptions of who the characters are or the direction things are taking. The characters and circumstances are far more complex than they initially appear and the whole arc of the first season is really good. It’s a wild ride and worth a listen. I’m excited for the debut of season 2.

Narrator doesn’t really explain anything well and plot wanders.

This podcast is able to merge the supernatural, horror and immersive plot with spectacular character development. Great work by Trevor Van Winkle. It pulls you in and you don’t want the ride to stop. Storytelling at its finest.
