Narrator doesn’t really explain anything well and plot wanders.

I’m on the 2nd episode. I love the parts with Anna!!!! The detective is cocky or arrogant….. can’t think of the right words to describe him. If you can get past that it’s worth a listen.

Overall I enjoy the story and performances. The content is delivered through listening to a series of theoretical cassette tape recordings. They do a great job making it seem like the recordings are on old technology. My only complaint is that is such a great job that often the audio is poor...Read full review »

I like the idea but I have some issues with the show: 1) the audio, I understand the thought behind these "we must make it sound like a real tape"-audio engineering, but I'm guessing most of us listen to the show with earbuds or on speaker and it's f-ing annoying listening to...Read full review »

From S01 ep02 - If you can’t even be bothered to take the time to do the barest bit of research (like, any at all), I just don’t believe that the rest of the podcast could possibly be worth anyone’s time.

This podcast is able to merge the supernatural, horror and immersive plot with spectacular character development. Great work by Trevor Van Winkle. It pulls you in and you don’t want the ride to stop. Storytelling at its finest.

I’m not by any means knocking the the time and effort that was put into this, but OMG it’s a hard listen. Like very hard. It’s so dry and Anna’s recordings are bland. They are a few that were genuinely creepy like I looked over my shoulder once or twice but they are few and far between. I’m...Read full review »

A bit rough off the start with great potential. Got better on into the first season. (Spoiler) I most stopped listening when I thought Sam was dead. Thankfully he wasn’t and glad I continued listening. Nearing the end of season 2, looking forward to see where this crew ends up with the search...Read full review »

I'm an avid Realm listener. I listen or have listened to most of their podcasts. I think Realm is a great channel and normally love their stories. This script was poorly written and the actors don't seem experienced enough to work properly through it. There's an acting tic people do...Read full review »

The actors read directly from a (terrible) script with zero emotion and at a dull, boring pace. There is no sound dimension and the readings are too long. If you want someone to read a boring story out loud to you, this is your audiobook.

A character driven story full of amazing horrors and with the world at stake, this is incredible

This is a really good horror podcast

Between the godawful voice acting in this show and the embarrassing forced & performative activism in Unwell, Realm would be completely off of my list if not for the amazing podcast that is Dark Heights. Seriously, I cannot believe the company that made those two abominations of shows made...Read full review »

Unimaginative, mediocre and cringy. Skip it unless you’re a fan of predictable plots and irritating, self-absorbed characters.

Absolutely terrible. Easy pass.

Started off okay, without being brilliant, but has now just turned into a load of waffle isn’t really going anywhere. Time to move on now.

The missing author’s voice is so fake and unbelievable. It sounds like she’s just reading a script, not like she’s actually a Stephen king level famous author. She seems uninterested in what she’s even saying and she sighs her way through each script. She doesn’t sound like someone thinking and...Read full review »

The tone of the main speaker is insufferable - I can literally hear the eye rolls and every sentence is filled with incredulity. I don’t know why some podcasters think this is nice to listen to - this sort of sarcastic incredulous energy. Turned it off almost immediately.

The emotions are so canned and over played. And agree with other reviewer; reading scripts and way too much sighing.

The vocal fry on Bailey’s voice is impossible to listen to. He’s also not a good voice actor.

The tale of Ann Sheridan grabbed my attention from the first listen and it kept it up through Series 2. Series 3 though is losing me. It seems the authors are have moved on to a new narrative that’s too vague and only mildly connected to what came before. I’m sorry because it started out...Read full review »

This podcast has been on my list for a while. Started listening today and can’t get further than episode one. The host won’t stop breathing heavy into the mic and it is beyond distracting. They are also trying to use a ‘podcast’ voice and it just isn’t working.

It’s really good when you listen to certain episodes. But it’s so all over the place it’s hard to follow.

I rather enjoyed the first episode I listened to, it was a great story and kept me engaged the entire time. I went on to follow your podcast and began to listen to your first episode. The first ad was about the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and how abortions are inaccessible. This is false. ...Read full review »

The writing is decent enough to warrant the extra star, but hoo boy… I’ve heard better acting in a high school play. I know it’s not easy - especially when it’s essentially a 30 min monologue each episode, but even then… not great. Going to try a couple more episodes to see if it gets into a...Read full review »

Came up as a recommendation, gave it a try . Only on early episodes. The male hosts over breathing every line is really off putting, really takes you out of the story, hope it improves.

One of my favorite shows!! The writing in this is beautiful and crafts a mystery that rests itself neatly between charming characters and chilling snippets of the things Anna Sheridan got up to before she vanished. I unfortunately can not make it past the tenth episode due to not being able to tolerate the bad voice acting. Detective Bailey is an okay voice actor, but the others, even Anna are hard to listen to. I feel like I’m just listening to an audiobook. It makes the story very boring. I couldn’t finish the first episode due to the writing. I know it’s unfair to criticize the writing of an entire show when I haven’t given it a proper chance, but I have listened to a lot of audio dramas, read lots of horror stories, and I have learned to recognize the signs of poor quality. I really wanted to like this but the voice acting is infuriatingly bad to the point it completely distracts me from the story. I got to about episode 12 and had to give up. seriously, if you say things like “it’s to politcal”, it just means that you do not understand life. Everything is political. You may not like it the THEME or MESSAGE. Politics dictate our life, grow the F up. Didn’t even get into the podcast fully bit 5 stars for having to deal with morons

I wasn’t sure about this podcast at first… then by episode 2 I was hooked!!! I have listened to this podcast twice now!!! That is how good it is. I also felt I missed some things and needed to re-listen. It is so good that I didn’t mind! Thanks… keep up the great work!!!

Didn’t even make it through season one. The voice acting is very dull, and boring. Also at some places when clearly the characters are in the same room converting, one sounds muffled and the other sounds fine. It doesn’t make a for a very immersive listener experience. Not sure what happened, but I absolutely loved season one. I am on the 2nd to last episode of season 2 and wanting to throw my phone. It’s been hard getting through these last few.
