Great for people who struggle with poetry
I've always struggled with poetry. I'm used to reading fast, and poetry doesn't really work that way. The Slowdown is great because it literally forces you to slow down and experience the poem, but it also doesn't expect anything of you—once the episode is over, you keep thinking about that particular poem or not, but you don't feel obligated to reread if you want to understand it better. Tracy K Smith also reflects on ideas that help bring insight to the poems without explaining them. This show is such a gift. Tracy K. Smith’s introductions are beautiful, intimate, often vulnerable reflections on what it means to be human. Listening is a kind of morning meditation, 5 minutes of reverence.

Love listening to Ada. Her voice and the way she articulates the poetry she reads is so unique. She will definitely be missed.
