Been listening to this podcast for years. If you’re a design nerd you gotta listen. I hope it never ever goes away. Also, I’d just like to use this outlet to show some love for Sarah. I really enjoy her energy and humor.

Best game design podcast ever!

The title says it all. Simply the best video game design podcast on the internet. And maybe the best kept secret, because this is what I’ve been searching for for years and I only just found out about it. Perfection.

I love Spelunky. Once I saw there was a podcast about I had to try it out. I listend to the first 40 episodes and jumped around on the Into The Depths epidsodes. I loved it. Then they brought up their white cis male privilege. They have pronouns in their names now. I listened to it because it...Read full review »

Eggplant has quickly become a favorite in my feed! I love the engaging conversations and insightful content. I truly learn something every time I listen. Highly recommend tuning in!

I’ve listened to way too many video game podcasts and none are as joyful or insightful to me as Eggplant. Absolute critical listening for anyone interested in the art of making games

Such an interesting perspective on video games unavailable anywhere else. The hosts are warm and knowledgeable and have excellent taste which makes listening to the discussions around game development and design extremely engaging.

I always say that I could listen to interesting people talking about Super Mario World for hours (I really do always say that), and this podcast hits the right spot.

I like how they go deep in this show. Pretty much every episode is a deep dive into either a classic game or contemporary indie game. Often times they will have the devs on which is also a treat. I love that this is a show about game development and game design from game devs - it fosters...Read full review »

The hosts are knowledgeable and passionate. I happen to agree with their view that Spelunky is the greatest game of the last decade

Came since it was the only Terry C. Interview I could find in light of the Dicey Dungeons switch port I recently bought, which then got me to revisit Zach’s games. Really enjoying the first three or so episodes I’ve checked out and can’t wait to go through the backlog!

I like your conversations. But please stop choosing awful grating noises to censor swearing. The mixing is bad, the sound is too loud, and whatever you think is gained from using it Is wrong. Focus on what makes this a fun podcast. It’s not the swear sounds.

Insightful, interesting, and well edited. An excellent podcast for game developers and those interested in the mindset that goes into making games. They may love Spelunky a little too much though. :)

These aren’t your ordinary game developers; they’re some of the most forward-thinking people in that industry, talking about amazing games including but not limited to Spelunky. It’s a great way to spend an hour or two; you’ll learn about game design just as much as you’ll have fun!

I think I’ve listened to most game design pods out there and while there is a lot of good stuff out there, the Spelunky Showlike stands out as the one that goes down into the nitty gritty of actual game design more than all the others. Working on a game that has some systems that overlap with...Read full review »

The Spelunky Showlike is a great show where you’ll hear them discuss plenty of the nitty gritty details of game design as well as just video/board games in general. They have a lot of great guests and I always find myself listening to multiple episodes in a row. If you have any interest in...Read full review »

The Spelunky Showlike has it all - great guests, nuanced opinions and a real love for the topic. The hosts are able to tease out new ideas without falling into the familiar podcast tropes; It’s not too academic or jargon-filled, nor a giggle fest. Who needs GDC when you have so many incredible game designers and thinkers together? This is the closest I’ve felt to chatting with game developers over brunch in San Francisco. Knowledge of Spelunky and the other games isn’t essential, because so much of the discussion is relevant to all games.
Hayden Scott-Baron via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 04/04/20
The Spelunky Showlike. A digital frontier. I tried to picture clusters of information as they moved through the computer. What did they look like? Ships, motorcycles? Were the circuits like freeways? I kept dreaming of a world I thought I’d never see. And then one day, I got in.

One of the best regular discussions about game design and development around. The guests and hosts are at the top of the indie pyramid and have some great insights. That said, I’m not a regular listener, and I can’t entirely recommend the show because it’s often very slow - the first 5 minutes...Read full review »

I’ve had a burgeoning interest in game design for years and have tried many podcasts in an attempt to satisfy my curiosity. I really want to like this podcast, but every time I try to listen to it, I give up about 30 minutes in. Great podcast for anyone interested in game design, for roguelikes in particular (not *just* Spelunky :p) The hosts ask insightful questions, bring on fantastic guests, and overall it’s a very respectful and pleasant discussion space to listen in on.

I love Spelunky, so I pounced on it as soon as I heard about it, and it certainly provides everything you'd want in a podcast about the greatest video game of all time.
