Not a good podcast, a great one!
Concise, digestible slices of current affairs & sports a few times a week compèred by the infamous Eamon Dunphy. Eamon divided opinions at times & raised some eye-brows in his role as a football pundit. However, for this podcast, he takes a leaf out of Bill O’Herilhy’s masterful book & suavely lets his expert guests shine with dapples of his own humour & opinion bleeding through without being dogmatic or ‘troll-ish’ like he could sometimes be as a guest on tv. Whether it’s Nicola Talent in relation to the criminal underworld, Niall Stanage on the shenanigans in Washington or his old pals from tv footy coverage - Giles, Brady & Hamman, there’re topical insights galore here. Less regular guests pop up as well for rugby, gaa, golf, racing, miscellaneous odds & sods, business tech; pressing issues of the day. You just can’t go wrong here. As Eamon might’ve said about certain journeyman footballers over the years, he’s a great pro.

Generally the podcasts re American politics and the Middle East tend to be interesting- but regarding local current affairs Eamon tends to be camillian, lose objectivity and not ask the probing questions. Maybe that’s because he’s so pleased to have interviewees that he just wants them to feel...Read full review »
