If they disagree with you politically you’re a moron and they resort to name calling. I don’t tune in to listen to your sophomoric politics.

I’m enjoying this, caught about ten so far and there’s some really good stuff, I particularly liked the Breaking Bad episode. I’d like to hear less of Sean and more of Dave but that’s just personal taste.

I appreciate the nuggets of wisdom that I’ve been able to get over the last several years of listening. But the podcast has lost its way and its value. Too much rambling and very little content. I used to be very interested in their upcoming projects even though it’s not my genre because they...Read full review »

I’ve seen Sean and Johnny’s name on a lot of books so they must be doing something right there. I listened to episode 71 about reboots but the after 10 minutes of swearing and in jokes I started skipping ahead. Couldn’t find anything of value as an indie author. It wasn’t far off three stoners...Read full review »

I reviewed the show a long time ago and tonight while listening I decided to look at the reviews. OMG! I can’t believe how rough they are. Those people don’t understand. I know you guys have grown and I appreciate the direction you’re moving in. Happy for you guys and wishing you much success

have been subscribed since the first episode on April 26, 2012. I haven't been listening much lately since they switched to The Story Studio. These guys were great when they were first getting into self publishing, but recently it's all about selling services. I'm sorry, but if you...Read full review »

Just can't take it anymore. Sometimes it's great value, but more often than not it sounds like they're just recording a strategy or production meeting. It's a shame because they have so much value to offer, but they're focused on themselves rather than the listeners....Read full review »

The Story Studio is presented by Sterling and Stone, a company made up of Johnny B. Truant, Sean Platt and David Wright. This podcast is a new one to me and in fact only started in February. However when I started listening it became pretty clear early on that although this one was new it had...Read full review »

At first I was excited that the podcast became the Story Studio and promised to be more focused. But now it's the guys babbling incohertly about internal projects that they can't even reveal what they are because they are secret under the guise of craft tips. There is basically no...Read full review »

Was a long time listener, but came to realize the guys see their audience only as a resource to sell to. I’ve seen informercials less pushy. I get we’re all in the business of making a living writing, but the podcast was at its best when the listeners were allowed to follow along with their...Read full review »

They sure are changing at Sterling and Stone. I really don’t care for the new podcast. It’s all about their TV/movie aspirations. I enjoyed hearing about the self-publishing business, and hardships, and fighting through them. I never hear much from Dave at all now that they’ve changed. It’s...Read full review »

The podcast used to be better until they changed the title and format. Now there isn't any useful information for writers and the podcast borders on narcissism.Read full review »

30% of your hosts do 90% of the talking and offer 10% of what the show is “supposed” to be about.

Just finished the episode on Breaking Bad. A lot of great story telling elements in this one. And by the way, I’m using my subscription to StoryShop every day! You guys are awesome! Tony H.

The intro of this podcast sounds super old fashioned. It doesn’t fit the tone of the podcast. Do some research, podcasts don’t open like old timey radio shows.

Okay, the start of the new series wasn’t grabbing me the way SPP did, but now it is starting to come back together. I am glad that I continued listening to this podcast.

Sometimes a guest brings good info, but you have to wade through a lot of wet sticky stupid superfluous self-congratulatory nonsense to get to the guest. How do adults let themselves get roped into guesting on this show? Easy. Some podcasts are for profit, some are the output of truly helpful...Read full review »

The one bit of useful information you can take away from this podcast is that these guys really know their stuff about self promotion. I only started listening to this podcast last year, but without it I would not have found the courage to decide to self publish myself. For that I am forever grateful. Thank you guys, I would have loved to have you light the way longer, but when it is time to move on you gotta do it.

I always thought that publishing quality was an unattainable endeavor before I found these guys. They’re engaging, and they really break it down in a way that makes you hungry for more.

I love the spirit and wealth of information. I love the funny stories and banter. But, the Michael Anderle Episode started with 15 minutes of bickering. It felt like an eternity. The SPP is one of five or six essential podcasts for any independent author. Johnny, Sean, and Dave are working authorpreneurs and bring together resources that they - and any independent creative - need through this show. Authors, certainly, but any creative can profit from each and every episode.

The two episodes I heard (243/244) were heavy on self-promotion for their author services with no useful information for self-publishers. That they were also bad at it was icing on the cake. The shinanegans that happen in this podcast are incredible, especially their hilarious ad reads (I wonder why 99designs still supports them....) There is also some very useful information here, particularly if you like your writing to be more like TV shows/serials, or if you like writing as a team.
