Be patient with the first few episodes, the sound quality isn’t great. I’m more of a Game of Thrones kind of guy but I thought I should know more about Tolkien since he’s so influential. I’ve never read the book but these guys make the content really accessible. They mix their nerdiness with...Read full review »

I don’t really do podcasts but my nephew is on here and so I thought I’d give it a shot. Tolkien isn’t really my cup of tea but I’m impressed with their conversations and the production.

I’ve always had a hard time with Tolkien, there are so many names. But these guys have a chapter by chapter break down and it really makes it a lot easier. Their lectio divina section is so inciteful and personal!

In the beginning they have a hard time finding their groove, but by the time they get to Tom Bombadil’s house they gotten really good. They started with two lectio divina’s per episode but move to one per episode and instead have a general discussion section. Their dynamic also gets better!

Beyond that, they do a lectio divina reading (modelled after Harry Potter and the Sacred Text) on a passage from each chapter, where they explore the literal and...Read full review »

This Harry Potter and the Sacred Text-inspired podcast does a wonderful job at guiding new (and old) readers into the magical world of Lord of the Rings. The regular podcasters, Rich, Chris, Matt, and Nathan, do an amazing job at close reading the text by talking about language, landscapes,...Read full review »
