“In a little under two hours a week, you gents have the ability to make essentially non-caring casual soccer fans anxious followers of the sport. Your bi-weekly podcast is literally THE ONLY news I get about soccer, and I feel like I miss nothing. In fact, I am probably gaining something by not listening to the "other" podcasts, broadcasts, and soccer shows that look down from an ivory tower to casual fans of the sport, and your collective insight, wit, and fairly impressive historical knowledge are, frankly, 5 stars. Soccer is an intimidating sport to a casual observer, and could be considered very high brow if approached incorrectly. The show stays away from doing that, and is 110% better because of it.
I will give you the highest praise I can think of as a sport-specific, single-subject-specific talk show--I listen every single week, and download every podcast that is released despite literally flat out not caring about any specific team or any players. That said, I feel like an individual who is totally immersed in the sport could get as much out of the show as I do. Proof in the pudding--one A. Birce, and also one A. Lalas listen to the very same podcast, and one enjoys it just as much as the other.
So, whether you're talking about the greatest rag-tag CVSA team ever assembled, debating about European football, giving insight to international competition, covering MLS, or doing a thoroughly entertaining, LOLworthy Wikipedia game, you've got one loyal follower at home in RVA who thanks you for doing what you do.”Read full review »
