“In America, there are very few ways to follow the beautiful game. The radio coverage is lacking, the television coverage (on non-soccer specific packages) is lame, and the majority of the analysis is either boring, or under cooked. In order to keep up with the game, here and abroad, one must be able to surf the internet for blogs and more entertainingly listen to several podcasts.
While a Richmond based radian station broadcasts The Total Soccer Show in Virginia, their podcast is perhaps the best podcast found on iTune. Covering EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A (when it is not on timeout), down to Brazil’s Serie A and even MLS, the hosts play well off each other with their expertise – and at times admitted lack thereof. The show works as an in-depth analysis as well as just a group of friends sitting around talking about a sport that they obviously care for deeply.
From their coverage of favorite teams (unfortunately Manchester United and more entertaingly Wolverhampton Wanderers), to their "Name that Tune" like Wikipedia game, to their just criticism of soccer in America, to their Kevin Bacon inspired Six Degrees of David Beckham, the Total Soccer Show just plan works. It serves as an entertaining way to keep up with the game in America and abroad or to learn about the game for the first time from a group of fans who know what they are talking about and do it in a highly sophisticated (so to speak) and entertaining way.”Read full review »
