Heartbreaking at times, triumphant at times
I was made aware of Jess Hill’s work through ‘Real Crime Profile’ and have followed her work ever since. I have listened to a LOT of podcasts, but I have never heard one more relevant and important. This is real survivors and their children, real perpetrators, talking about what they are going through NOW, currently, sometimes even speaking at the very time they are escaping. Most media related to true crime and profiling by experts comes AFTER the fact. It’s a retrospective, a ‘what could have been done.’ This is a podcast setting itself BEFORE the end of the timeline, working to change the outcome, before it occurs. No, Jess is not a time traveler. She’s just taking what should be the obvious step of addressing what can be done to PREVENT domestic violence instead of regaling us with yet another story of victims who have already met their end and who we are too late to help. ***take the trigger warnings seriously on this pod, especially episode 3. If live recordings bother you, such as playbacks of 911 calls, it may be quite distressing. The recording played quite literally took my breath away.

An amazing and informative podcast everyone needs to listen. I had hoped that the system had changed in the last 20 years since I went through it. Sadly it hasn’t.
