We need to be aware, to know more, to understand… I’m absolutely gobsmacked that many people with power and influence (police and family court) can be so ignorant and so damaging to the lives of people who need protection. Incredible podcast.

This is the most profoundly insightful podcast. I have read and listened to every word you speak and write. I have been a victim of monumental and ongoing abuse. … post separation. The coercive control was and remains out of control. My children are trapped in the vortex, although I have left;...Read full review »

Although this is an Australian podcast, it talks about a lot of universal truths that more people should know about. I wish it had also talked about men who are subjected to coercive control, but it’s well worth a listen.

Thank you for this! I too, related 100%. The way you capture the twisted’ness and explain it back so clearly, as a victim stuck for 25 yrs in marriage, i nodded my head this whole podcast and feel so validated for the first time by anyone! I hope I can get my loved ones to listen too so they’ll...Read full review »

I was recommended Jess Hill’s podcast and book (See What You Made Me Do) by my trauma counsellor to help me understand what I was going through was DV. Jess’s work has helped me come to terms with the trauma I’ve been surviving through for years. I’ve now left my abusive partner and I’m not just...Read full review »

This podcast is crazy powerful. I thought I had a solid understanding of the characteristics and methodology of domestic violence… it’s unsettling to recognize in myself some of the problematic thought patterns imbedded in our very pattern of understanding social interaction. Everyone should...Read full review »

This is a life-changing podcast. It changed my thinking in so many ways and influenced many conversations since. I just wish Jess had helmed the final episode as her incredible advocacy and strength of spirit has shone through the entire show.

I have read every report on DV and followed Jess Hill’s writing and research. I can’t give enough praise for Jess’s work and dedication on this area of concern. Her articulation, writing, research, oration is unmatched. Jess is the voice needed for this complex and difficult subject.

Your work is undeniably important in public awareness… thank you 🙏🏻 61 years young - trauma starting in family of origin which lead to a number of relationships. I have complex PTSD and live in isolation to keep myself safe. It’s time people realise the damage domestic abuse causes.

This is a thorough look into domestic violence and what actually is at the root of it. It is a fascinating listen. I am recommending it to all of the thoughtful people that I know. It should be included in high school curriculum world wide. My mind is blown!

As a 56 year old feminist I thought I knew a lot about domestic violence but this podcast is so enlightening. I always knew my mother was afraid of my father, and his anger, but I now realise it was coercive control. For decades I have blamed her for not leaving him and now I see how...Read full review »

Very informative, well produced and narrated. Would be great to hear an episode perhaps family law part 2 about perpetrator parenting and the impacts on children in more detail and explore further how the system scrutinises the survivor’s parenting but rarely the abusers.

Very well researched podcast that looks at the topic of violence and coercive control in depth and from different angles. This is the best investigative podcast that I have listened to - such an important topic for everyone to learn more about. So well reported. Thank you!

Just listened to the third episode about men that are abusive, incredibly interesting and non-judgmental. It would be interesting to also hear about the small percentage of women that are abusive: do they follow the same patterns?

Well done Jess Hill and team for highlighting DV and how widespread it is and how educated, intelligent, and financially independent women can still get caught in this trap. Episode 3 was horrifying but also provided great insight into the perpetrators and their triggers.
