“So the show was really amazing bc the acting, writing, direction and film production was spot on!!!! 6 stars!!!! I am a woman and I have coached rowing for over 20 years. Rowing is stupid hard with little ya-yas but it’s kinda addicting and attracts women who love community and hard work. In no way does this mirror the community of women in the series bc rowing is generally about privilege but the pride, connection and joy the women show is very similar on a rowing team. No one really watches rowing bc it’s so boring and rowing in general is not inclusive or equitable but Title 9 has changed things for the better in some areas and made it worse in other areas but I digress…bottom line I connected with the characters in the best possible way…..when I finished the series it left me with lots of unanswered questions and I had seen the ads for the podcast so when I finished the series I binged the podcast.
This podcast is so fantastic.
It’s so real.
It’s not sensational
It’s AUTHENTIC
We have little or no authentic women’s voices in media.
Not really. We see women molded by too many cultural factors that make then seem less like women and more like paper dolls if that makes sense. One dimensional creatures who ARE NOT REAL
Young women are bombarded by these visuals and feel less than so much of the time. Our culture does not really want women to show who they really are in my opinion .
We have come so far but we are still so stuck!
It’s incredible to me that we are over 50% of the population and we still have such a small platform.
Thank you
thank you
thank you
For lifting us up.
The joy you describe is the sensation of achieving equity or justice in an unjust world and that is pure power. If every young woman has one such experience in a lifetime she is lucky and she will never forget what that feels like. It will change her forever!
I’m a better human for listening to your podcast.
