An incredible listen for music fans
This is an exceptionally well researched subject about a pretty obscure time in music history in a destination that was a hotbed of music making. Daniel Ralston’s narrative style is compelling and makes you want to know more. The Fake Zombies represent the strangeness of human nature, a sliver in time and place. This podcast is well produced and the music and story weave so well together. The interviews are great and a collection of genuine legends, people who were there and experts of the time. Really well done. I enjoyed this immensely.

More reviews of The True Story of the Fake Zombies
What a great untold story of rock history. I’ve binged the first 3 episodes and I’m anxiously looking forward to the rest. I’m from Texas and very familiar with ZZ Top but was not aware of this part of their origin story. Extra credit for the Ben Fong-Torres cameo. Love you Ben ✨

This is an absolute gem. Fake versions of the British Invasion group The Zombies touring the US, members of ZZ Top, ? And The Mysterions and a dead man singing. And all beautifully assembled

This podcast clearly wants to drag a simpler story into more episodes and hence more ad revenue without adding relevant facts and education or anything that makes the story better. Honestly go read the rolling stone article. And relevant ZZ Top facts. This pod is not good.
