Not for DIYers - Mostly a promo for their sponsor
I listened to several episodes, but found the answer to most questions ends up with needing a financial planner. The sponsor of this podcast is a financial planning firm. Also,I found the information to often be incomplete, if not inaccurate. In the podcast today, an answer included buying an annuity to provide a stream of income. It would have been very helpful if they had mentioned which type of annuities, because they’re not at all the same. Mentioning an income annuity, specifically a SPIA, would’ve been far more helpful. Another question was about money in a brokerage account. The answer assumed that people only use brokerage accounts for investing in the market, so all money in a brokerage account would be in risky investments. No mention was made of any safer investments in a brokerage account, like CDs, treasuries, etc. It’s a sad commentary when it appears that I could do a better job of answering some of these questions than these so-called experts. Just because you get paid to do something doesn’t make you an expert.
