This podcast has been both educational and entertaining. It takes me back to better days when I was able to play many of the games covered, and it always inspires me to return to them, if I can. Being walked off the nostalgia plank into the familiar waters of so many great and interesting games...Read full review »

I really love ❤️ this podcast, please make more shows! One of my favorite old adventure games was Quest for Glory. I’d really appreciate it if you would make an episode for Quest for Glory!

Deep dives into the history and gameplay of so many DOS and Win9x games from my past. Joe does a great job of talking about the good and bad of PC games of the 80s and 90s, cutting through the rose tint of nostalgic lenses to remind us all about what was great and maybe not so great about some of...Read full review »

Just tripped over the pod and listened to the Master of Orion ep, I can’t even begin to convey the enjoyment had listening to you delve into the boot file editing tactics you used to get that baby to run. I had an IBM PS/2 with a lowly 2MB of total memory to launch my copy with, and I remember...Read full review »

If you ever tinkered with your autoexec.bat file to optimize your 386dx, this is the podcast for you. This cast frankly should have a much bigger following, these episodes are well-researched, very fun trips down PC game memory lane. Host knows his stuff and truly loves games.

Detailed reviews, technical discussion and development history for a wide range of DOS games. Most of all, the presenter, Joe, brings heart and soul to this podcast. Highly recommended.

Wonderful in-depth overviews of some classic games. I love hearing the stories of how these games were developed and the developers themselves. Great stuff!

This is one of the most well put-together podcasts that I know of. One guy covering DOS and pre-Windows XP games with in-depth discussions of the games themselves, the development of them, and in some cases the technology behind them. I recommend listening to this podcast more than I recommend...Read full review »

If you want to relive your best memories from the DOS era of PC gaming, the UMB podcast is what you are looking for. Joe brings a mature, down to earth style that really compliments the content well. Every episode is dedicated to one game from the past. Joe does an overview of the game, talks...Read full review »

I stumbled across this podcast a little over 3 months ago, and have been hooked ever since. As a programmer I love hearing the development stories, pitfalls that games ran into, and strange facts and trivia I didn’t know before. The soundtracks take you back in time, and remind you of the hours...Read full review »

If you are a fan of classic PC games from the late 80's through 2000 (DOS and pre-XP days), then this is THE podcast for you! The host, Joe, does a great job of giving the history of the game (or game series) featured, with development story, tech focus, game play, and whether the game still...Read full review »

Joe is doing a phenomenal job with this. He really captured the sweet spot for me personally, PC games roughly 1988-1998. In each episode, he picks a game and talks about it in depth. He covers the basics about the game itself, often with some great audio clips from the game. He also adds a lot...Read full review »

Your podcast is making me lazy! I used to do my own research about old games I'd find myself reminiscing about. Now I just think "Joe will do a show on it". Your podcast is one of the best out there. Joe has been creating a show full of interesting research, game play insights and audience involvement for a while now. Look through the feed, find something for days gone by you are interested in and take a listen. The “development story” and “tech focus” parts are always my favourite :)

I have been looking forever for a podcast that discussed retro PC games exclusivly, specifically graphic adventure games from the 80's and 90's.. I listened to many podcasts that talked about retro games but most of them talked about console games most of the time...which I dont care...Read full review »

A wonderfully produced & nostagic look back at pre 2000 PC gaming. A time of space operas when Mark Hamill wasn't just a Skywalker. You pointed & clicked to find a grog vending machine on Melee Island or head for Atlantis with Dr Jones. Where Gods looked over their populace & occasionally treated...Read full review »

Joe Mastroianni really knows his DOS and pre-XP games. Joe does such a great job at this show, each episode ending with me wanting to hear more, which is rare for me with single voiced podcasts. Current favorite episodes: Mechawarrior 2 (ep. 13) and Simcity 2000 (ep. 3). Great work Joe!!
