The Boiling Crab was founded by Sinh Nguyen and Dada Ngo, a Vietnamese husband-and-wife couple. They opened the chain's first restaurant in 2004 in Garden Grove's Little Saigon. It opened its first intercontinental location in the Kakaʻako district of Honolulu, Hawaii in 2016.  The first international restaurant was opened in May 2020 in Shanghai. Locations in Australia started operation in early 2021. Meanwhile, a Harvard Square location in Cambridge, Massachusetts began business in early 2022. Kristin Nguyen is the founder of Garlic & Chives Garlic, an award winning restaurant in the heart of Little Saigon in Orange County, well-known for two things: its deep-fried salmon belly dish and one of the longer waits for a table in Little Saigon. Kristin is the chef behind the concept, has won several prestigious accolades, including Best Vietnamese Restaurant in OC Weekly‘s Best Of 2015 and has been on Jonathan Gold's list of 100 best restaurants for many years.
