Longtime Listener w/a Love-Hate Relationship
This rating is for the fact that I've been listening a longtime & am genuinely thrilled to have this dynamic, if overly hipster, duo back together after Grantland's demise. However, ever since the Ringer launch, I find that I care about less than half of the stuff they talk about & it's no longer a must-listen regardless of topic. I used to be able to tolerate the faux-introspective "deep dives" into hip hop even though it's not my cup of tea/painful to listen to, because I knew some cool TV chat was coming. Now, since I'm not a GoT watcher, most if not all of the TV chat in the "Ringer Era" thus far is irrelevant to me. The new formula seems to be 60% GoT + 20% Kanye/Insert hipster reference to a "record" or "track" that's "Fire" + 10% Airplane Movies + 10% News & TV shows I care about. I'll still be sticking around for that last 20%, coupled with the fact that despite my criticisms, I still like these guys & the rapport they have. I'm just counting down the days until this season of GoT is over.Read full review »

When ESPN killed Grantland, I really missed listening to Andy Greenwald and Chris Ryan do their banter thing on a weekly basis. Now they're back - happy days.Read full review »
