Been listening since grantland, things have changed
Overall, I think both Chris and Andy are supremely intelligent and knowledgeable about tv and movies. Some of the only voices I can take at their word on a show/film. Only 2 things I think a listener might find problematic with this pod: 1) the amount of discussion about GoT, in addition to having a tv hour about it, insults their intelligence a bit, considering how much other tv there is to talk about. Their voices would be valuable on a number of other shows or movies, but there's a disproportionate amount of attention given to GoT, even if it's a rarely brilliant program. They are way too qualified to spend so much time on just that. 2) Their music takes seem a bit Hot-take oriented. Wouldn't trust their knowledge on the matter. Case + point: they recently talked about how bad of a rapper Big Sean is after 'champions' came out, while ignoring the serial offender 2 chainz and the verse he put on the same track. The Ringer might need a music specialty writer to have a pod come out every time a major release happens.Read full review »

Andy and Chris are so much fun to listen to. Their chemistry and playful banter with each other makes for interesting conversations about TV and pop culture. I enjoy the smart and unique conversation every week.

But these guys come off as haters , very pretentious. The ringer strikes me as a place for open minded writers who see both sides of the story. These guys just seem like the guy that tries to make a case that Indy music is way better than streamline music

Andy and Chris clearly have a lot of fun making their podcast and their friendship translates into a fun and engaging listen. Great for general discussion of pop culture with TV being the major focus.
