Hard to listen to
I thought I'd try this one. I listen to two of their other podcasts- Political and Culture- and I'm a feminist, so it seemed like a good match. It's difficult to sit through. The voices, tone, non-words. I started two separate episodes and turned both off before they finished. Hanna is too close to the mic or something. In the live podcast (3/2012), someone is constantly knocking into the mic, shuffling things around. No one has a volume that they stay at consistently. The other two women have these lilting, little girl voices. I don't think I'd sound any better recorded (based on having heard myself recorded), but I do think that I'd get better if I were frequently featured on a podcast (to that point- how long have they been doing this?). Even if they identify as writers, for the moment, they are on-air talent and they need to be trained to do that effectively. Control your tone, substitute non-words with no words, sound thoughtful. One thing that I like about this podcast is that they don't interrupt each other, which happens all the time in the Political Gabfest. But they do talk over one another sometimes, which devolves into sort of a loud shrieking. And it does not sound thoughtful, even if the topics are generally good.Read full review »

BUT NEED MORE DIVERSE GUESTS. Please people. Make it happen. Really. I'd also love less politics. Already listen to the political gabfest--and i like the other topics you bring forth better.Read full review »
